Selfies
At times our most awkward selves
Ask any member of gen Z and they would have you believe that they invented the selfie. On the contrary, evidence shows that for almost as long as cameras have existed, people have found a way to break the "third wall" and insert themselves into the narrative. With the invention of the smartphone, the selfie has become ubiquitous. It gives us a way to timestamp a moment in time and space. The appeal of the selfie for us is the sense of unbrindled excitement about capturing this moment. Far from the curated nature of social media, these selfies are raw and unfiltered. They are a way to document our lives as we live them.
