Grand Cayman
December 2024
After almost a year and a half, we were finally able to get back into the water with our dive buddies, Andrea and Carlton. This year we spent Christmas on Grand Cayman. While not quite living up to its reputation of having some of the best diving in the world, I could readily see the appeal. Super short boat rides to an impressive variety of dive sites - deep walls, wrecks, reefs and several underwater oddities such as a toilet and a bike. I made the decision to upgrade my camera, but ran into some learning experiences adapting to the larger gear. As a consequence the overall quality of my images was not what I had hoped to see. I was able to add some first to this trip, the most exciting of which was driving ‘English’ style. The biggest challenge was remembering that the turn signals were on the right side of the steering column. Flipping on your wipers does little to establish turning intent?? I also set a new depth record of 122ft. I was able to commemorate this with an interesting picture of an anemone. Look forward to use my lessons from this trip for our next dive adventure!!
