As 2022 comes to a close, the feeling of normality is starting to return to international travel. We opted for perhaps a new holiday tradition, spending Christmas in a small island off the Honduran coast, Roatan. While we had a reasonable share of beautiful weather seen in this photo, there was quite the storm system that drenched us with more than 7 inches of rain during two days in the middle of the trip. While it was sad to miss out on two days of diving, when making the comparison to what this rain would have translated to in the form of snow if we were still in the midst of the zero degree temperatures at the time of our departure from Lexington, the imposition of the weather was more tolerable. It also gave me more time, as can be seen by the composition of my photos, to explore our little island. Anthony's Key Resort was also a shift from destination resort to a true dive resort. While we were able to spend another fun and relaxing week with my sister-in-law, Andrea, and her husband and my dive buddy, Carlton. We were so sad not to be able to have Emily come with us to start her journey into the world of scuba diving. But, such are the tribulations of traveling during the winter months punctuated with one of your party lives in the snow capital of the world, Buffalo NY.
